Amazon has introduced “Buy for Me,” a new beta feature in its Shopping app that allows customers to purchase products directly from other brands’ websites when those items aren’t available on Amazon. This initiative aims to enhance the shopping experience by providing a more comprehensive selection of products within the familiar Amazon interface.
When users search for specific branded items in the Amazon Shopping app, they may encounter a “Shop brand sites directly” section in their search results. Tapping on a product labeled with “Buy for Me” directs them to a detailed product page within the app, offering information similar to that of products sold directly by Amazon. If they choose to proceed, Amazon uses agentic AI to securely transmit their encrypted payment and shipping details to complete the purchase on the brand’s website.
After the transaction, customers receive an order confirmation email from the brand’s site and can track their orders through the Amazon app. However, customer service and returns are managed by the respective brand retailers, not Amazon. Currently, “Buy for Me” is available to a select group of U.S. customers on both iOS and Android devices, with plans for broader availability based on user feedback.
This feature reflects Amazon’s commitment to expanding its product selection and enhancing customer convenience. By integrating external brands into its ecosystem, Amazon aims to provide a seamless shopping experience, even for products outside its direct inventory.
